About a year and a half ago I was on staff part-time at Park Community Church (where I am now on staff full-time as the Director of Web & Social Media). That was a very different time. The former Director of Communications at Park, Tim Schraeder was giving me some communications responsibilities and eventually he went on to do great things, and one of those things was this book Outspoken! Also at that time Tim had asked me to be a contributor to this book. I was floored and couldn’t for the life of me understand why. So I sat down and wrote a short piece for this book.
Well folks, today is the day! Today Outspoken! is on sale for you to get your hands on! It has been amazing to go through this process with Tim and the rest of the collaborators. I’m so excited to see how this is going to act as a great resource for those who are doing communications in the church, and wanting to learn more.
As the tagline says, the purpose of this book is simple, to have a conversation on church communications. And it is just that. It is a collaboration of 60 contributors from churches all over the world who are involved in communicating the message of the Gospel in their churches and beyond.
One of the things that makes this book so unique and great is that it is broken up into different sections, and each section is covered by a couple contributors who wrote an essay that is about 1.5 to 2 pages long. So the content is simple and to the point, which makes it really easy to read. It actually amazes me that so many aspects of church communications are covered in just one book, which was only possible by bringing all of these people together from all walks of life, and different locations to write about the same topic of communicating the Gospel through the mediums that have been made available to us in the church.
So before I give too much away I will just go ahead and say that if you are involved in communications in your church in any capacity then you need to read this book. In fact, I would highly recommend having your whole team or even your whole staff read this book. Not only will it probably expose you to different mediums of communication you weren’t aware of, but it will also help you improve in the areas of communication you are already using.
I’m so excited to be a part of this book, and so excited to participate in the launch this week at the Story Conference. If you’re at the Story Conference there will be a limited number of print copies available at the resources table, so go pick one up! Or you can order your copy on Amazon. Or if you’re more of a Kindle reader, you can download the Kindle version as well.
Congratulations Tim, and to the rest of the Outspoken! team. God is using you in enormous ways. Keep it up!
So I believe in this book so much that I am going to give away a copy to one of you lucky readers! All you have to do is leave a comment below, and then “Like” or Retweet this post. That’s it. Then I will send one of you a copy of Outspoken! But don’t let that stop you from also buying another copy. I mean, come on…worst case scenario, you buy a copy, then you win a copy, and then you have one to give away and share these ideas with.
