Social Media Christmas Invitations

If you’re a regular reader here on my blog, then I hope you know by now that context is key in your church’s social media presence, which is why I hope you’re thinking about how to use your Church’s social media presence around Christmas. Okay, let’s face it, I hope you were thinking about this long before this week, but hey, better late than never. So today I want to share with you one of the best ways that I’ve found to invite people to your Christmas Eve Service.

But first, there are 2 things you need to remember…
1. People are more willing to visit a church for the first time during the Christmas season – It doesn’t matter if your friend doesn’t go to church on a regular basis, they are more likely to respond to an invitation to 2 holidays: Christmas and Easter. So you need to provide people with easy ways to invite friends.

2. We’re in the visual era of social media – This means that at least 50% of the time you need to be thinking about how you’re creating social media posts that are visually appealing that people want to share. Because the fact is, if you create a post that catches someone’s eye, then people are much more likely to share it with their friends. And since your church’s social media presence is the modern-day greeter, it’s important that this image looks good, because this could be the first impression someone gets of your church.

In light of these two ideas, you need to create an invitation to your Christmas Eve service that is an easily shareable image. People are willing to share images, especially if they have a call to action, and if they contain important information. So if you create an image that is an invite to your Christmas Eve service, along with times, location, and website URL, it can be shared independently apart from any links or captions, and still act as a good invite. Then post it on all of your social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, and Pinterest.

How are you using social media to invite people to your Christmas services?
