Monday Wake Up :: #Echo13 Recap & Quotes

If you follow me on Twitter, and you weren’t at Echo13 last week, you were probably either really annoyed, or really pleased. I live-tweeted the entire conference, and that may have gotten tiresome for some of you, but the overwhelming response was that it was super helpful for those of you who weren’t able to make it to Echo13 but were following along from afar. You can catch up on all my notes here. And if you’re trying to process all of the Echo13 goodness, but also going back to work this week, here are 3 things you can do to implement something new you’ve learned.

Thanks to Rob Thomas, Jonathan Malm, and Jeff Parker, and the rest of the RT Creative Team for putting on such an amazing gathering of church geeks and communicators!

My friend, Brad Zimmerman put together a pretty good recap of day 2 of the conference along with notes. Check it out here.

Here are some nuggets that are going to be encouraging me this week (click to tweet):

Please guard the culture of your team. Don’t sit around and complain. As a pastor, I will never fully understand all that you do, but you shouldn’t need us to understand. I try to encourage my team. – Matt Chandler

When we tell people to focus on lots of things, they tend to not see anything. – Dawn Baldwin

You social media = your greeters of your church. – Tim Schraeder

Most of us don’t know who we are. We just know who we are supposed to be to be approved by our community. – Donald Miller

The process is messy. We never ever will have enough resources and people and budget and time. – Stephen Brewster

Churches are content factories. Utilize that content. – Justin Wise

Create some unexpected moments to build anticipation in services. – Phil Bowdle

Disturb and disrupt the career Christian for the sake of them seeing Christ’s face fresh. – Carlos Whittaker

Step away from the project. Sit in the seat of the audience, and see what they’re seeing. – Drew Worsham

In my relationships with people, what would I do if I acted like fear wasn’t involved? – Gary Molander

Our job is to let things that have already existed, pass through us. – Whitney George
