Facebook Page Scheduling for Your Church

If you’ve been running a Facebook Page for your church since before May of this year then you know how frustrating it was to have to use a third-party tool to schedule posts for your Facebook Page. In addition to that, Facebook’s EdgeRank would actually hurt the visibilty of my posts in other people’s newsfeeds if I used a third-party tool like Hootsuite! Needless to say, when they finally released a native scheduler, I think it was a breath of fresh air for everyone.

What is the Facebook Scheduler?

The Facebook scheduling tool allows me to schedule a post to be updated sometime in the future.

This is helpful for one main reason…

My Sanity!

I would go absolutely crazy if I tried to post updates on Park’s Facebook Page at the correct time throughout the week. Previously I was forced to schedule Facebook posts in Hootsuite, all the while knowing that it was going to hurt our reach and visibility. If I was at my computer at a good time to post then I would post an update, but other than that I had to schedule them in Hootsuite. This native scheduling tool of courses fixes this problem.

Some other helpful things to know…

I can easily backlog my church’s Facebook Timeline. This tool not only allows me to schedule posts for the future, but it also allows me to post someting to our timeline that happened in the past. I can choose the exact date and time for a post and put it somewhere on our timeline in the past. This is helpful as you’re filling in your church’s timeline and telling stories.

I can access pending posts…
I can access pending posts by viewing them in my Activity Log. To access my Activity Log at any time I can go to my church’s Facebook Page, click the “Edit Page” button, then click “Use Activity Log.” Here I can view all of my pending posts as well as any posts I have previously scheduled.

This scheduling tool isn’t perfect yet. In fact there are quite a few glaring improvements I wish they would make, but it works for now.

Do you use this scheduling tool for your church’s Facebook Page?

How have you found it helpful or not helpful?
