Don’t Be Afraid to Be Who God Made You to Be

  • We were made to not just be afraid of stuff, but to do the cannonball, and jump right into something.
  • I was in Washington, DC and we went to a wax museum. After the 3rd wax person I struck a pose. These 2 old ladies came up to and pulled my whisker. So I had to stand there and be still.
  • I realized about myself through that situation, that I’m a poser. That’s why I’m such a good lawyer
  • I know all the right things to say, but God doesn’t care about what you can say.
  • With your creativity you were made to be more than you are doing.
  • The message for me is to figure out who I am and really just live into that.
  • “Live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”
  • I don’t hear an audible call.
  • Some of the stuff that you’re drawn towards is part of your calling.
  • For me when I think of “What am I supposed to do next?” I feel like a developing polaroid picture.
  • Even though the rocks could talk, what I get is you. Someone says something to you and it pains you, but there is actual truth in what they’re saying.
  • I decided I’m going to live a very noteworthy life. I want to be so engaged in life that I want to take notes on it.
  • For me that is part of this creative process.
  • I’m not as creative as you, but I’m as creative as me.
  • Stop comparing ourselves to one another.
  • Who cares about my opinion.
  • God won’t think we’re swell if we do more stuff. He already thinks we’re swell.
  • We have to stop living symbolic life.
  • I wrote this book and I asked my publisher if I could put my cell phone number in the back. They thought I was crazy.
  • Everyone wants to make a difference in the world, but no one wants to be different.
  • What if we stopped living a symbolic life, and said “Who does God want me to be?”
  • Creatives like you are up in ‘tree forts’, and no one has cancer. We need to meet people where they are, no matter what is happening.
  • Love is extravagant that way. When it is extravagant that way, love is never wasted.
  • Don’t give in to where people want to meet. Jump the tracks.
  • If you want don’t want to go to the normal destination then jump the tracks. People will think you’re nuts, but you’ll need to do it.
  • So I started doing things to be who I was made to be.
  • Every single Thursday I quit something. Just to mix things up.
  • If we start doing that then ask the question, “What is it that I can quit to free up some margin in my life?”
  • You all are doing some things that is hanging you up in your creativity.
  • Just STOP IT!
  • Say “I want to be who I was made to be!”
  • Don’t we want to be those people that bring the creativity?
  • Quit silently today.
  • Half of you are afraid of losing your job, and half of you are terrified you’re going to keep your job.
  • Let’s live in to this imprinted wiring harness.
  • You’re afraid of doing stuff instead of just saying yes.
  • As you keep saying yes to the creative things around you, all of this stuff starts falling into place.
  • Don’t say all the right things, just start doing all the right things.
  • What if we live into who we are, and start living into who God has us to be?
  • You’re gonna go out and do alot of great things, but you need to be who you are.
  • We launch each other, our communities, and our world without being afraid.
  • Go work the plan.
