Why Me?

Why me?

That was the question I asked myself when Tim Schraeder asked me to be a contributor to the new church communications book, OUTSPOKEN: Conversations on Church Communications. It was just 1 year ago when I met Tim face-to-face at the Echo Church Media Conference. I was going into my Senior year at Moody Bible Institute as a Sports Ministry major, and I was wondering what the heck I was going to do with my life. Little did I know that 1 year later I would be working side-by-side with Tim on staff at Park Community Church, doing what I love. I have loved working with Tim and learning from him, and he has blown me away once again, by asking me to be a part of this amazing book.

I think I echo Justin Wise’s thoughts when he says, “I have no idea how I got here.”

So about the book…

Tim told me a while back that he wanted to write a book, he didn’t tell me anymore than that. Then a couple months later he calls me into his office, and tells me about this great idea he had. He wanted to write a church communications book, but he had a revelation, not just one person can write such a book. If just one person were to write this book it would offer a perspective that is too narrow. So what if we had 50 different church communications experts write this book? It would be the one-stop resource for church communications.

That is exactly what is happening…

50 different experts in church communications are all writing about whatever area they are most versed in.

If you are communicating in any way in the church then this will be a must-read for you. The book is due to be completed in early winter, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.

You can follow all the OUTSPOKEN action on twitter @OUTSPOKENbook and “Like” it on Facebook and read the official announcement.
